His research interest focuses on digital media and related areas. It mainly includes big data of visual media,  computer graphics, computer animation, and image based  graphical techniques such as rendering, reconstruction and modeling. Key algorithms and methods are studied for the whole procedure in making animation or digital media.   
received Ph.D. at the State Key Laboratory of CAD & CG, Zhejiang University,1991. His supervisors are Prof. Liang Youdong and Prof. Peng Qunsheng.
