John Edward Hopcroft, the recipient of the 1986 Turing Award, obtained his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 1964. He is currently a professor at Cornell University, USA, and an academician of the US National Academy of Sciences and the US National Academy of Engineering, as well as a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Regarded as a founder and pioneer in computer science research, he is also an outstanding educator who has made worldwide contributions to establishing the educational model for computer science talents. In 2017, he was appointed as a Visiting Chair Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

As one of the first academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a renowned expert in cybersecurity and information technology, he currently serves as Vice Chairman of the National Informatization Expert Advisory Committee, Member of the Supervisory Committee of the National "863" Program, Chairman of the Cybersecurity and Information Security Expert Group under the former State Council Information Office, and Director of the National Information Security Evaluation and Certification Administration Committee. He is also the founding dean and honorary dean of the School of Cyberspace Security (formerly the School of Information Security Engineering) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Hong Mei, male, Han nationality, was born in May 1963. His ancestral home is Chongqing, and he was born and raised in Guizhou. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 1984 and 1987 respectively, obtained his Ph.D. from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1992, and completed his postdoctoral research at Peking University in 1994. From March 1999 to April 2000, he served as a Visiting Scientist at Bell Labs in the United States. In 2011, he was elected an Academician of the Information Technology and Science Division of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Hong Mei has been honored with numerous scientific and technological achievement awards, including the Second Class National Natural Science Award, Second Class National Technological Invention Award, Second Class National Science and Technology Progress Award, First Class Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education, and First Class Technological Invention Award of the Ministry of Education. His personal honors include the Fok Ying-Tung Foundation Young Teacher Award (Research Category), National Excellent Postdoctoral Award, Recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, China Youth Science and Technology Award, Candidate of the National Ten-Thousand Talents Program, Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Science and Technology Progress Award, and Academic Leader of the Innovative Research Group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He previously served as a Member of the Expert Group of the National 863 Program and a Member of the Expert Group of the National "Core Electronic Devices, High-End General-Purpose Chips, and Basic Software Products" (NHGC) National Science and Technology Major Project. Currently, he holds multiple important positions, such as Chairman of the Expert Group on Advanced Computing Technology in the Information Technology Field of the 12th Five-Year Plan of the National 863 Program, Director of the Technical Committee on System Software of the China Computer Federation (CCF), Vice Chairman of the China Software Industry Association, Director of the SOA Sub-Technical Committee of the National Technical Committee for Information Technology Standardization, Member of the Discipline Review Group for Computer Science and Technology of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, and Member of the Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Education. He also serves on the editorial boards of many domestic and international academic journals and has acted as Program Committee Chair or Member for dozens of important international academic conferences.
