Released Time: 2021-12-25

On Dec 17, 2021, China Computer Federation (CCF) presented the 2021 CCF-IEEE CS Young Computer Scientist Award to Prof. Wu Fan from the CS Department of SJTU in recognition of his outstanding contributions to real-time sensing and dynamic scheduling of wireless network resources.

Founded in 2009, the CCF Young Scientist Award is intended to encourage and commend young scholars in China who have made outstanding achievements and contributions in computer science and related field. Since 2016, IEEE-CS joined with CCF and changed the award into “CCF-IEEE CS Young Computer Scientist Award”. The two parties organize review committee, issue certificates and present awards together. In 2021 only five scholars won the award.

Prof. Wu Fan is now the head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, winner of the 2020 National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He received his B.S. in Computer Science from Nanjing University in 2004, and Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2009. He has visited the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) as a Post Doc Research Associate. His research interests include wireless networking and mobile computing, data management, algorithmic network economics, and privacy preservation. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed papers in technical journals and conference proceedings including JSAC, TON, TMC, TPDS, TOC, TKDE, MOBICOM, MobiHoc, CoNEXT, INFOCOM, ICDE, VLDB, KDD, etc. He is a recipient of the first class prize for Natural Science Award of China Ministry of Education, NSFC Excellent Young Scholars Program, ACM China Rising Star Award, CCF-Tencent ``Rhinoceros bird'' Outstanding Award, and CCF-Intel Young Faculty Researcher Program Award. He has served as an editorial board member of IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, ACM Transactions on Sensor Networks, IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering, Elsevier Computer Networks and Journal of Computer Science and Technology, and as the member of technical program committees of more than 90 academic conferences.
