  • Mei Hong

    Hong Mei, Male, born in May, 1963 in Guizhou Province.


    Mei Hong received both his Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Computer Science from Nanjing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics (NUAA) in 1984 and 1987 respectively, and Doctorate degree in Computer Science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1992.

    From 1987 to 1989, he was working at NUAA as a research assistant. In 1992, he joined in Peking University (PKU) as a post-doctoral research fellow. From 1994 to early March 2013, he was working at the Department of Computer Science and Technology and the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science in PKU, and became associate professor in 1994 and full professor in 1997. From March 1999 to April 2000, he was working in Bell Labs as a visiting scientist. In 2005, he became a "Chang Jiang Scholars Program" professor of Ministry of Education. In 2011, he was elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Before his appointment as SJTU Vice President for research in March 2013, he was the dean of School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science at Peking University.

    Mei Hong is the chief scientist of the Expert Committee for Computing Technology of State 863 High-Tech Program, a chief scientist of the National Basic Research Program of China (973), the Director of Technical Committee on System Software of China Computer Federation (CCF), a Vice President of Chinese Software Industry Association (CSIA), the Chief Scientist of the Working Group for Software Component Standards of Ministry of Industry and Informationization, a Member of the Working Group for Computer Science and Technology of State Academic Degree Commission, a Member of Science and Technology Committee of Ministry of Education, Fellow of World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in 2013.

    His current research is on Software Engineering and System Software. In the past years, Mei Hong received some awards and honors in recognition of his contributions to research, such as the State Natural Science Award, the State Technology Invention Award, the State Science and Technology Progress Award, the HO LEUNG HO LEE FOUNDATION Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress.

  • Gu Dawu


    Dawu Gu is a distinguished professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in Computer Science and Engineering Department. He is now in charge of cryptography and information security research team in the department and serves as the director of Lab of Cryptology and Computer Security(LoCCS). His research interests include cryptography, software security, hardware and embedded security, big data and cloud security with privacy, financial security techniques, etc. He was the winner of Yangtze River Scholar Distinguished Professors Program, New Century Excellent Talent Program, both made by Ministry of Education of China, also won the Shanghai leading talents program, Shanghai outstanding academic leaders program, and the Rising Star program for Young Talent, made by Shanghai municipal government. He received from Xidian university of China his B.S. degree in applied mathematics in 1992, M.S. in 1995, and Ph.D. degree in 1998 both in cryptography. He was a postdoc researcher in Shanghai Jiao Tong University from 1998 to 2000 and worked as a faculty member after fulfilling postdoc program. He was a visiting scholar and senior researcher in Tokyo University in 2002 and KU Leuven in 2008, respectively. He ever served as assistant dean of school of information security engineering, vice dean of department of computer science, director of HR office of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, etc. He is now a council member of Chinese Association for Cryptologic Research (CACR), vice director of CACR CryptoIC technical committee, and member of crypto algorithm technical committee. He is also the Vice Chair of Shanghai Branch of China Computer Federation (CCF), a standing member of CCF information privacy technical committee, and a council member of the Shanghai Computer Society. He undertook more than 40 research tasks including National Science and Technology Major Projects, 973 Program, 863 Program, National Science and Technology Support Program, National Natural Science Foundation of China, Major Program of National Cryptography Development Foundation, etc. He has published 120 academic papers and held 20 invention patents. His major work has been published in journals or conferences such as CRYPTO、CHES、FSE、TCC、CCS、ACSAC、RAID、SANER、ESORICS、ACM Computing Surveys、IEEE TDSC、IEEE TIFS、IEEE TCAD, SCIENCE CHINA, IET Information Security. He won the first prize of science and technology award by Shanghai municipal government, the second prize of science and technology award of National Defense, and also was awarded the advanced individual of National High-tech Research Program of China. He also serves as technical editors for China Communications, J. Cryptologic Research, and Information Network Security. He served as general chair of E-Forensics 2010, program chairs of CASC 2011, CryptoIC 2013 and ChinaCrypt 2015, respectively. He also served as PC members of international conferences such as ASIACRYPT, ASIACCS, ACNS, ISC, ISPEC, ICICS, Globecom, IEEE TrustCom, and NSS for more than 30 times.
