Turing Award Winner, SJTU Honorary Professor John E. Hopcroft Met with CS Teachers

On the afternoon of Oct. 10, Prof. John E. Hopcroft came to our department and met with several faculty members for discussion on extensive issues regarding undergraduate education. Prof. Hopcroft is an honorary professor at SJTU, special advisor to the president of SJTU, Turing Award winner, fellow of National Academy of Sciences and National Academy of Engineering of the US, professor at the computer science department of Cornell University.




The meeting was hosted by deputy department head Prof. Zhang Liqing and participated by 17 faculty members including department head Prof. Guo Minyi, deputy head Prof. Luo Yuan, deputy head Prof. Huang Linpeng and deputy head Prof. Liang Xiaoyao.


Prof. Huang introduced to Prof. Hopcroft the CS undergraduate curriculum, teachers, and other basic information about undergraduate education. Prof. Hopcroft suggested that we attach great importance to undergraduate education and endeavor to improve the quality of learning through scientific curriculum design.
