On Jun 23, Scientific Chinese "The People of the Year Awards 2016" ceremony was held in Beijing. Scientific Chinese is the benchmark of the selection of academicians of CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences) and CAE (Chinese Academy of Engineering). Gu Xiulian, Vice-chairman of NPC Standing Committee, Fan Daiming, Vice-president of CAE and more than 20 academicians attended the ceremony. Research Professor Yu Kai from our department was honored with Scientific Chinese "The People of the Year Awards 2016" with his excellent performance in the field of natural language processing.

The award started from the year of 2002. A large number of excellent scientists who have made outstanding contributions to China's technology development were elected, among whom are famous scientists and entrepreneurs like Yuan Longping, Yang Zhenning, Gu Binglin, Tu Youyou, Pan Jianwei, Wang Xiaomo, Zeng Qingcun, Shi Yigong, Deng Zhonghan, Li Yanhong and so on. Scientific Chinese "The People of the Year Awards" is the most professional and influential scientific award in China.
