    The John Hopcroft Center for Computer Science at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is seeking to fill several tenure-track positions in computer science at the rank of Assistant Professor and above.

     

    Shanghai Jiao Tong University is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in China, which enjoys a long history and a world-renowned reputation. John Hopcroft Center for Computer Science, founded in January 2017, focuses on the fundamental problems in computer science, exploring new theories and efficient algorithms for the future, and fostering talents in computer science. The center will provide a favorable international academic environment for faculty members.

     

    Professor John Hopcroft, 1986 Turing Award winner, has been working at SJTU since 2011. Over the last five years, he has dedicated tremendous amount of efforts and made great contributions to the development of computer science research and the undergraduate teaching quality in SJTU. In 2016, he was awarded the “Chinese Government Friendship Award”, which is the highest recognition to a foreign expert who has made outstanding contributions to China’s economic and social progress.

     

    Strong candidates in all areas will be considered with special consideration given (but not limited) to AI, BigData, and Mobile Internet etc. An internationally competitive package for salary and benefits will be offered by the Center. SJTU makes a great effort to provide a startup research grant. In addition to conduct research in the Center, faculty members are required to teach courses and supervise Ph.D. students and master students. The overall teaching load is one course per semester.     Applications are invited for joining the Key Laboratory of Shanghai Education Commission for Intelligent Interaction and Cognitive Engineering (IICE), Shanghai Jiao Tong University for postdoctoral research fellow vacancies.



    Shanghai Jiao Tong University is one of the top-ranked universities in China. The Research Center on Intelligent Interaction and Cognitive Engineering (IICE) carries out research on Brain-inspired computing, Brain-Computer Interaction, Machine Learning, Affective Computing Computer Vision, and Speech and Language Processing. It has several joint research projects with the RIKEN/Institute of Physical and Chemical Research, University of Cambridge, Technische Universit?t Berlin, Kyoto University, University of Toronto, National Institute of Information and Communications Technology which are the leading research groups in the world.


    We are currently recruiting for 4-6 postdoctoral research fellows in the following directions:

    Desired Skills and Experience

    About you

    • Successfully completed a PhD degree in computer science or its relevant areas.
    • Proven experience in the fields of machine learning, Brain-computer interface and computer vision.
    • Thorough understanding of machine learning methods (SVM, Random Forest, Deep Neural Networks, etc.) and recommended practice in Feature Extraction, Dimensionality Reduction.
    • Excellent programming skills and experience with popular software tools (R, Matlab, Python), as well as experience in professional software development technologies
    • Experience in open source development and research project application is preferred

    The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Shanghai  Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is seeking to fill several tenure-track  positions in computer science at the rank of Assistant Professor and  above.

     

    Shanghai Jiao Tong University is one of the oldest and most prestigious  universities in China, and CSE is premier in computer science research  and education. Candidates for these positions are sought for the  well-recognized computer science program (ACM class) at Zhiyuan College  of SJTU which provides an outstanding undergraduate education to a  select group of 30 research-oriented students. Over the last ten years,  students from the ACM class have won five gold medals in the ACM  International Collegiate Programming Contest.

     

    Professor John Hopcroft, 1986 Turing Award recipient, is chairing the  committee on curriculum development and faculty recruiting. Since  December 2011, he has spent two months a year teaching at Zhiyuan  College. In May 2012, he was appointed Special Counselor to President  Jie Zhang.

     

    An internationally competitive package for salary and benefits will be  offered. Strong candidates in all areas will be considered with special  consideration given to systems and networking, architecture, machine  learning, theory, and security. In addition to the teaching duties at  Zhiyuan Colleges ACM class, faculty members are required to teach  graduate level courses, to supervise Ph.D. students, and to conduct  research in the CSE. The overall teaching load is one course per  semester.

    Description:

    The Computer Science & Engineering Department is inviting the application for a department IT Manager/System Engineer position. You are expected to work independently or lead a team of technical assistants to fulfill the department's various IT needs.

    The tasks include (but are not limited to):

    1.Maintenance/update of the department home page and the intranet pages

    2.Administer the department servers including the web server, file server, mail server, printer server, etc - including setting up user accounts, installing programs upon request, configuring the various user programs, setting up quotas, performing backup, etc.

    3.Write up and maintaining the department IT guide on the web

    4.Provide general IT support for the dept faculty, staff and students

    5.Provide suggestions on dept IT needs and architect the dept IT infrastructure

    6.Liaise with hardware/software vendors who supply IT products to the dept

     

    Qualifications:

    1.A degree of BSc, BEng or MSc in Computer Science or Computer Engineering is required.

    2.At least 2-year Experience in Linux/Unix system administration and network administration.

    3.Have a passion for 'hacking' but at the same time have or are willing to acquire the knowledge and skill to become an IT architect
