Prof. Jia Weijia Elected as IEEE Fellow of 2020

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers has released its 2020 IEEE Fellow list. Prof. Jia Weijia of the CS Department won this honor for his contributions to optimal network routing and deployment.


IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) is an international institution for electrical technology and information science engineers. It has more than 400,000 members in over 160 countries. IEEE Fellow is the highest-ranking member of the society. It is the highest honor bestowed by the institute and recognized as an authoritative honor and an important professional achievement in the academic and technological circles. Those elected all made a significant contribution to the advancement or application of engineering science and technology and brought great value to society. No more than 0.1% of the IEEE's current membership can be elected each year.




Jia Weijia, Chair Professor, founder of the Lab of Cyberspace Intelligent Computing of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Smart City & Internet of things of University of Macau. His research areas are cyberspace entity object sensing, human-computer-object fusion knowledge map construction and big data processing, next-generation wireless communication protocol, and Internet of things. He has achieved a number of domestically and internationally leading research results in multicast and multimedia communications. His research in the field of Anycast routing protocol and network deployment is internationally advanced. He won the First Prize of Science and Technology Progress of Ministry of Education and the Best Product Award on International High-tech Exhibition (Shenzhen) many times. In recent years, he has published more than 500 papers in international SCI journals and academic conferences. He has been invited by many authoritative international conferences to make keynote speeches. By far he has written two books (one published by Springer) and participated in the writing of 12 books.
