CS Phd Candidate Tian Tan Was Awarded the 2016 Google Phd Fellowship

Recently, Google announced the 2016 Google PhD Fellows. Tian Tan, a Phd candidate directed by Research Prof. Kai Yu, was awarded the 2016 Google Phd Fellowship among a number of applicants with his excellent performance in machine perception, speech technology and computer vision.


In 2016, a total of 52 students worldwide won this fellowship, only 4 of whom were from China. It is also the second time for SJTU students to win it since its foundation in 2009 (CS PhD candidate Zhenzhe Zheng won it in 2015).


Estalished in 2009, Google Phd Fellowship is aimed to support excellent Phd candidates for their researches in the field of computer science and related areas. By the 8th year, it has sponsored over 250 outstanding doctoral students from Australia, China, east Asia, India, north America, Europe and middle East.
